Eco-Laundry Provides Environmental Sustainability
Bringing Green Cleaning Nationwide
In 2010, Phillipe Christodoulou pioneered sustainable laundry by launching The Eco Laundry Company in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As the first environmentally friendly dry cleaning and laundry service in the country, Eco Laundry soon attracted acclaim. Christodoulou then teamed up with co-owner Jean Calleja to open Eco Laundry’s second location in New York City, now company headquarters.
After growing an avid local customer base, Eco Laundry unveiled a national franchising opportunity in 2015 to spread its earth-friendly mission wider. Under the guidance of its founding owners, the company continues leading the green transition in laundry using biodegradable detergents, energy-efficient machinery and responsible waste practices. By scaling up franchising, The Eco Laundry Company aims to make sustainable dry cleaning services accessible to communities nationwide.
Christodoulou didn’t set out in life to be just a laundry service. His journey began in Buenos Aires, Argentina, when he recognized the need for a more endurable, more environmental way to wash clothes. He wanted to build a company that would be different from other laundries and help the environment.
It wasn’t just about innovating dry-cleaning but also about building awareness from his two bases (in Argentina and in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City) to enlighten people about environmentally-friendly washing practices.
Christodoulou’s stores are powered by green energy. His washing machines conserve water utilizing between 40 and 45 gallons per load, and the use of biodegradable detergents and soaps. The business also offers a green dry-cleaning service with even the hangers being biodegradable.
Christodoulou’s Ambitions In Life
To grow the business, Christodoulou launched franchising operations in 2015, with the hope that future franchisees execute his business strategy to build a more sustainable world.
The Eco Laundry Company is the first official laundry to evolve into a certified B Corporation, defining it as a sustainable business and enabling his franchisees to acquire the same certification.
Christodoulou said – “By growing the franchise, the company will have more buying power for green suppliers — right now, finding sustainable and affordable supplies is one of the biggest challenges. But growing the business will also mean the company has a louder voice to educate more people.”
Outdoor Activities
In adherence to Earth Day, the laundry company planted a tree for every object of clothing that was dry cleaned on Wednesday, April 22. The company now works with We Forest (an organization that plants trees globally).
Christodoulou said – “All of the trees from The Eco Laundry Company’s donations are planted in Madagascar.”
Why We Should Pick Eco-laundry?
‘The Eco Laundry’ presents a great option to customers. It offers better laundry service using less electricity and water, as well as plant-based detergents that are also hypoallergenic. The benefits of using non-toxic solvents for dry cleaning are safer not just for the skin, but also preserve clothing fabrics longer.
